Toothpick City
II: Temples & Towers will be a collection
of more than 40 famous religious buildings and tall towers
from around the world standing side by side on a 24'x28'
oval platform. The exhibit will be made entirely of toothpicks
and glue (just like the first Toothpick City). And, just
like the first Toothpick City, all of the structures will
be built to a 1:164 scale. When completed, it will be the largest toothpick structure in the world
with almost 4 million toothpicks (almost double
that of Toothpick City I). The centerpiece of the exhibit
will stand almost 19 feet as the projected Burj
Khalifa tower sets to break the record of tallest
structure in the world next year.
All major religions
will be represented in the exhibit with scale re-creations
of famous cathedrals, temples, and mosques including the Grand
Mosque in Mecca which alone contains more than a
quarter-million toothpicks and The Vatican which
is almost 10 feet long. Other structures include The
Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Wat Arun in
Bangkok and Notre Dame in Paris. Many more
are on their way.
If you have a temple
or tower suggestion, let

So is Toothpick City "art"?
Well, if you stand in front of it and you’re either,
amazed, confused, shocked, inspired, or just plain "blown
away," then isn’t that what art is supposed to
do?
"Toothpick City II represents mankind's
quest for the heavens, whether spiritual or physical. The exhibit
will honor architectural achievement, religious diversity,
and historical accuracy," Stan says.
